CHERRY ANGIOMA
Cherry Angiomas
They are benign small, pinhead-like lesions that most commonly appear on the torso, arms and legs of the body. Cherry Angiomas are round, light to dark red hence the term “cherry,” referencing their color and appearance on the skin.
Though the cause of their origin is unknown, cherry angiomas can often be seen among people who are pregnant. Studies show that hormones and high prolactin levels may be a factor in their development. More often than not, cherry angiomas will resolve on their own after delivery.
This patient presented 6 months post pregnancy with a large cherry angioma that had doubled in size.
Treatment: Nd:YAG
Purpose: The laser energy is delivered using pulses which are converted into heat in the tissue. The heat impacts the vasculature of the lesions causing them to collapse and is then absorbed by the body.
Results: 10-14 days.
